More than 50 Thirroul business leaders attended IMB Bank’s local business event last night at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul and, along with valuable information about business banking, the audience was treated to an artistic experience.

Awarded Kiama painter, Ken Tucker, is IMB Bank’s artist-in-residence and can usually be found at a primary or high school surrounded by children who help him create masterpieces to add colour to playgrounds and classroom walls.

Last night, Ken sat at his easel as business people networked around him, painting a beautiful artwork that depicted the path leading down to Thirroul beach.

At the event’s conclusion, Shaz Harrison-Shaw’s business card was drawn from a box and the founder of Wollongong charity, Need a Feed, walked away with the original painting.

Michael Brannon, IMB Bank’s General Manager – Sales and Marketing, emphasised that IMB Bank was established 138 years ago with the purpose of making its customers and communities better off.

Mr Brannon said, “This purpose remains today and is the heart is of why we exist. As Illawarra’s leading local bank, it’s important to us to not only connect with our local community, but provide opportunities that allow everyone to connect, collaborate and share ideas to help our local businesses thrive.”

Mr Brannon also highlighted IMB Bank’s commitment to grass roots community support including sponsorship of Football South Coast, the Early Start Discovery Space at the University of Wollongong and the Sunset Cinema.

In addition to bringing communities together through sport, education and family events, Mr Brannon highlighted the 19 year history of the IMB Bank Community Foundation. The Foundation has provided more than $8.6m to 660 local community initiatives and helping community organisations become self-sustaining.
