Australian’s traditionally have not been huge fans of Halloween but with Gen Y now with young kids of their own and inspired by American Pop culture are more closely embracing some classic neighbourhood Trick or Treating.
Venues are embracing the festivities with events both in Sydney and Wollongong if Trick or Treating just isn’t your thing but you feel like getting in the spirit of things.
Hijinks will be Halloween-themed this month and, as well as completing challenges like ‘take a selfie with a mermaid’, there will be a Frankenstein makeover workshop, a haunted photo booth, DJs, and voodoo magic tricks. Thu Oct 30.
Expect a spellbinding weekend as the Argyle goes all out with two haunted-house Halloween parties. Guests on both nights will find freak entertainers, fire breathers, stilt walkers, and face painters. Oct 31 & Nov 1.
As a special Halloween treat, the Cremorne Orpheum will be holding a double-bill screening of the original 1984 comedy classic, Ghostbusters along with its 1989 sequel. Fri Oct 31.
Join Waves for a Halloween party to die for. It’s DRESS UP for the first time, so arrive in your most terrifying outfits. Sat 31 October.
The zombie walk involves participants dressing as zombies and the undead, who then limp, shuffle and walk through the city streets and malls. The walk is purely for fun and for those who enjoy dressing up, and those with a love of brains - we are seeking to raise as much awareness and funds for the Brain Foundation. Sat 31 October, 3.30pm.
