8 April 2020

IMB contactless card PIN limits will be increased temporarily, from $100 to $200, to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

This change will reduce the need for physical contact with payment terminals when shopping, as a PIN will only be required on transactions over $200.

IMB members will be able to make contactless payments of up to $200, without a PIN, using their IMB Visa Debit card or IMB Cashcard from Wednesday 8th of April 2020. This new $200 limit is expected to apply for a three-month period and will be extended if required.

Certain retailers will be progressively rolling out this new limit, with major supermarkets expected to be the first to accept the increased contactless transaction limit. When paying for purchases, members should follow the PIN pad prompts.

IMB will continue to monitor your transactions through the fraud systems that we use and will alert you to any unusual activity. It is important that you continue to keep your card safe at all times to protect against theft and check your account often. If you lose your card or have any concerns about unauthorised transactions on your account, please contact your local IMB branch or call IMB Direct on 133 462.
